Jewelry from the Byzantine Empire was the peak of craftsmanship in regards to the ornateness of the filigree and the opalescence of the stones. These earrings aren’t actually from the time of the Byzantine Empire, however, both purple components are vintage from the 1960’s! LOL! The purple acrylic oval stone is in a 15 mm x 7 mm gold plated channel style settings. The diamond shaped components are made of brass filigree and the stones are a purple Lucite. The earrings are finished with Czech glass beads and gold toned (nickel-free) French ear wires. The total length of the earrings is approximately 2 and 3/4 inches.
