100 Years in Dreamland

Description Twenty years after writing his first book about Dreamland, local author Nick Evans is retelling the story of the famous Margate fun park in a new version, Years In Dreamland. The park, cinema and ballroom have been part of the Margate landscape for more than 100 years. For many, a visit to the Kent coast simply wasn't complete without a ride on the famed Scenic Railway, the Looping Star, the Big Wheel or the dodgem cars. Dreamland's trendsetting 1930's cinema led the way in design while the ballroom became famous for dancing and big name music concerts. Its restaurants fed tens of thousands enjoying their bean feast outings. Later on, Dreamland would hold its own as an exciting theme park. Margate's renewed popularity in recent years has helped Dreamland to turn a corner amid hopes that more restoration work can continue.
