Description All In A Day’s Work The north east Kent towns of Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate have created millions of happy holiday memories by the sea – but once the season had ended many Thanet residents had to find other work to tie them over to the following year. In the post Second World War era the government persuaded businesses to set up shop in the area or grow their existing bases on the isle. More people opting for a life near the coast brought new growth opportunities for many established enterprises. Nearly 150 nostalgic photographs have been packed into this book which includes the stories of how milk magically appeared on the doorstep, the Rediffusion network that enabled people to enjoy burgeoning television programmes, Volkswagens arriving in Ramsgate and an airline which helped foreign travel take off from Manston. Many of the photographs are being seen for the first time in more than 50 years and have been collated mainly from Sunbeam Photography’s collection as well as the author’s own extensive archive. Together, they make a remarkable record of how we used to work. All In A Day's Work is the latest in Nick Evans' very popular series of books packed with photos and stories celebrating Thanet's rich history.
